2nd Annual Flavors of North Miami Food • Wine & Craft Beer Festival
Planning is in full swing for the 2nd Annual Flavors of North Miami, scheduled for Sunday, November 9. The greater North Miami Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of North Miami, presents the city’s premiere “sampling” event where guests visit booths to sample cuisine and libations of participating restaurants, bar, and catering companies for one low admission price ($12 for adults, $5 students & seniors). The event is once again proud to be hosted on the open-air palm-lined plaza of the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), located at 770 NE 125th Street in North Miami.
Last years first time event attracted a diverse crowd from Hollywood to Coral Gables and event planners expect to double attendance in 2014. New this year is the “craft beer” component with the scheduled tapping of 5 different kegs of craft beer courtesy of FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality’s Craft Beer Academy.
All of last years restaurants are returning, and some new ones too, including Macaluso’s on Miami Beach and Fish Fish Miami. Local favorites such as Whole Foods Market, Mr. Cobb’s BBQ, Evio’s Pizza, KC Healthy Cooking, Grateful Bread, Delicious Catering, Tijuana Flats, El Kiosko Latin Cafe, Dad’s Cooking, Alaska Coffee Brewing Company, Moca Cafe & Lounge, Edible Arrangements and Great Harvest have all committed and more will be announced soon.. Additional beverages will be provided by Kobrand Wines, Billy’s Pub Too and Caribbean Exporters.
Taking place from 4 pm to 8pm, the Festival will once again be providing fun, family-friendly entertainment on the City of North Miami’s Showmobile. The early hours of the event will present local dance troupes and singers, and then from 6 pm – 8 pm, the unique and talented Jean P. Jam Band will provide a cool blend of Caribbean/Soul/Rock sounds for your listening and dancing pleasure.
In addition, Presidential Insurance and Krispy Kreme have partnered to present the Flavors of North Miami Doughnut Eating Competition, scheduled for 5 pm on the stage. The grand winner will receive a huge trophy and a $100 prize. Pre-register here to participate.
Partial proceeds from this years event will benefit PAL (Police Athletic League), an organization that works to keep urban youth active in their communities.
